Audition

Auditions are generally held in May and August for each season, but Artistic Director Chris Ludwa is always delighted to hear new voices of interested individuals throughout the year as occasionally there is need to add additional singers at various times during a concert season. An audition consists of vocalization and a short, painless warm-up, a brief selection (usually from Handel’s Messiah), and sight reading. Encore Vocal Arts is a non-for-profit 501(c)3  organization. A large portion of the funds we use to present our concert season comes from dedicated music lovers like you. Our annual operating fund drive supplies almost half of the capital we depend on. Your donation helps us keep ticket prices low and accessible to all.

Encore Vocal Arts values donations of all sizes. We have contributors giving from $5 to $15,000. All contributors are a very special part of our family and we thank them sincerely. Without their contributions, there wouldn’t be Encore Vocal Arts!

Both individual and corporate contributions are encouraged at the following levels

Choregia*: $2,500+
Conductor's Circle: $1,000 to $2,499
Maestoso: $500 to $999
Espressivo: $100 to $449
Vivace: $50 to $99
Brioso: up to $49

*The Choregia were notables in Ancient Greece who were the major financial supporters of the first choruses in history and often funded them for an entire year.

Encore Vocal Arts gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to connect with a unique audience in Indianapolis. Arts enthusiasts of all ages and incomes regularly attend our concerts. And because Encore performs at various venues around the city, we draw both regular Encore supporters and people from all different geographic parts of Indianapolis.
